Vamsy directed a documentary "Bommarshi Bapu" and won a Nandi Award for Best Director from the State Government of Andhra Pradesh in 1996. Vamsy is also closely associated with Bapu (director) and had most of Bapu's lifetime work done for Vamsy with over 400 arts for his stories and Bapu (director) also designed all Vamsy's film titles. This is against the norm as usually the songs are recorded first and the filming made later in most movies.

The two were so attuned to each other's way of thinking that for a song in his movie Ladies Tailor, Vamsy shot the song picturization ("Ekkada Ekkada") before the song was recorded by music director.
Some of their best work has been in co-operation with each other. įor a significant period of his career, Vamsy collaborated with the music director Ilayaraja, and their duo had produced best music in Telugu till date. In 1985, he made 'Preminchu Pelladu', the first movie with Rajendra Prasad as the sole lead. The movie won the National Film Award for Best Feature Film in Telugu. The movie was adapted from his own novel Mahal lo Kokila ( The Nightingale in the Palace). In 1984, Vamsy made the critically acclaimed Sitaara, with which he introduced Bhanupriya to the Telugu film industry. This movie was a remake of the Tamil film Palaivana Solai directed by Robert-Rajasekaran. Madhusudhan Rao as assistant director for many films, later worked as an assistant director to K Viswanath on Sankarabharanam, Bharathiraja on Seethakoka Chiluka before making his first film Manchupallaki with Chiranjeevi, Suhasini, Tripuraneni Sai Chand and Rajendra Prasad in 1982. In 1976 he started to explore his career in Madras started working with V. Manchu Pallaki, a remake of the 1981 Tamil film Palaivana Cholai, was the directorial debut of Vamsy who also wrote the screenplay.
But before dying, Geeta helps Vasu by marrying his sister to Sekhar. When Sekhar confesses his love to her he comes to know of a shocking truth that she has a terminal disease and will die soon. Geeta changes the lives of all of them by making them earn their living by what they know and implementing it successfully. Sekhar also likes her, but does not express it.
They tease her, but she teaches them a lesson and later they become friends. Geeta (Suhasini) moves into their colony with her father and everybody falls for her, one trying to make a fool of the other. Sekhar ( Chiranjeevi), Hari ( Rajendra Prasad), Vasu (Narayana Rao), Kumar ( Sai Chand) and Gandhi (Girish) are the unemployed youth living in a colony who are looking for jobs and are unable to make a living.
